One of the motions that was approved at this year’s AGM was to move forward with the project to install a new pipe between the La Calma well head and the storage tank that is located above Jensen’s house. Work was started on this project three weeks ago and I wanted to give you an update on our progress so far.
We have completed the first phase of the project which was the digging of a trench in which to lay the new pipes. We have decided to install two 3″ pipes underground to replace the current single 2″ pipe that handles water in both directions (from well to tank and from tank to customers). This will provide us with a more reliable delivery system as well as significant expansion capability for the future. We encountered a lot of large boulders and rock during the dig and used the services of a large excavator and hydraulic hammer attachments to clear the path. If you would like to see pictures of the work in progress, the Board has posted both a drawing of the route we selected as well as a number of photos here on the AC website.
The next phase of the project is the acquisition and laying of the new pipe which will begin in the next few days. If you have any questions, please send me an email and I will do my best to get you an answer.
